Their mother reached out to me for some portraits and we decided to shoot at her father's property, which is pretty far out into the country. His land was full of magical spots - a tree adorned with a birdhouse on every branch, a winding creek along the outskirts, a few old sheds with antiques, a bridge overlooking the remnants of a river... We delved into every nook and cranny on this land and truly explored. Through playing, I sparked the nostalgia in myself I had nearly forgotten about - the freedom and wildness of my own childhood. As a kid, my friends were always the adventurers and I was the follower, which kind of explains why I turned out to be a photographer. In just two hours with Jay and Cannon, I learned a lot about wonder, simplicity, and freedom.
